Clifford Turns 50!

Norman Bridwell talks about inspiration and creating the Big Red Dog

By Dani Bergman Chudnow | October 1 , 2012

Last Monday, kids and adults alike celebrated Clifford the Big Red Dog's 50th birthday with one big party in front of Scholastic's global headquarters in New York. On hand was Norman Bridwell, the creator, author, and illustrator of the Clifford series.

After Clifford's birthday party, Kid Reporter Dani Bergman Chudnow sat down with Bridwell to talk about how he created Clifford and why he thinks Clifford has remained so popular. In the interview, Bridwell shared lots of fun and surprising info about Clifford, as well as words of advice for kids who might want to be an author and illustrator, too.
