Author Edwidge Danticat recently spoke to Scholastic Kid Reporter Albert Ordonez in her home in Miami, Florida, about her first picture book, Eight Days: A Story of Haiti. The book tells the story of how a young boy trapped in the rubble of the 2010 earthquake managed to survive by using his imagination.

CRISIS IN HAITI: ONE YEAR LATER

More than a million people remain homeless and schools are just now being rebuilt in Haiti a year after the country's capital city was devastated by a major earthquake on January 12, 2010.
