Victorious New Nick Show
New Victoria Justice series begins Saturday
Music, dancing, and high school drama all put into one TV show. And no, a certain made-for-TV musical isn't becoming a series! The new show is called Victorious and it will air March 27 on Nickelodeon after the Nick Kids' Choice Awards.
Victorious stars teen celebrity Victoria Justice, a Nickelodeon icon. After her role in Zoey 101 as Lola, Justice is finally getting a show of her own.
Starring with Justice are Ariana Grande, Danielle Monet, Avan Jogia, Leon Thomas, Matt Bennett, and Elizabeth Gillies. Most were on hand to talk to this Kid Reporter during a recent visit to the show's set.
"I feel like this is a great opportunity for me to play my music, show my comedy chops, and work with an amazing cast," says Leon Thomas.
Victorious is about 16-year-old Tori Vega, a new student at Hollywood Arts high school. This performing arts school is filled with teenagers of extreme talent, all hoping to someday gain the spotlight. Along the way, Tori makes new friends and confronts much drama roused by the mean, yet ultimately hardworking, Jade (Elizabeth Gillies).
Most of the cast members are veterans of Broadway plays, and until now have only had small roles (or even none) on TV. For them, this is a whole new world of multiple retakes and attention to detail.
"On Broadway you get one chance with each audience," says Thomas.
We won't know until Saturday what tween and teen audiences will think of Victorious, but it will definitely be a music-filled ride.
"My favorite thing about the show would have to be the performance episodes, because of the dancing and singing," says Victoria Justice.
