• Use p. 2 to practice making predictions. Cover steps 2 and 3 of the Venus Flytrap with the screen shade or reveal tool. Ask a volunteer to read the first step or read it aloud with the whole class. Then ask students, "What do you think will happen next?" Accept all answers and then reveal the second step. Follow the same strategy for step 3.
• On p. 3 you can circle the bottom of the pitcher plant with a highlighter to explain to students where the liquid is located.
• Display p. 4 on the whiteboard. Ask volunteers to use the pen tool to follow the directions in the activity.

• Display the cover of the magazine and ask children what it means to be green. Ask a volunteer to highlight the sentence "Being green means to take care of the Earth."
• Have students answer the questions on pp. 2-3. Ask volunteers to use the pen tool to draw checkmarks on the correct boxes.
• After reading the Funny Idioms feature on p. 3, have a volunteer circle what the real meaning of the idiom "Don't be a litterbug!" is.
• On p. 4 ask students to use the pen tool to circle the right answers on the diagram.
