Dear Scholastic News subscribers,

Our January 11 issue is now arriving in classrooms. We completed the issue and sent it to the printer before the holidays. The issue’s cover story is about the upcoming Winter Olympics. U.S. snowboarder Kevin Pearce is featured in that story. Very sadly, last week Kevin suffered a serious head injury while training in Utah. The latest news reports say that he is in critical but stable condition. His Olympic hopes will not be realized this year, but we hope they will be in years to come. Our thoughts are with Kevin and his family.
