Flashing cameras. Red carpet. Disney Channel stars. Highly anticipated movie. What does this all add up to? The premiere of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, of course! I was extremely fortunate to be able to attend the event last week, and I am still in awe over all of the excitement that took place there!

My dad and I left from Chicago to Los Angeles early in the morning on the day of the premiere. It was held on the campus of the University of Southern California (USC) at the Galen Center, where the USC Trojans play basketball. It was the perfect location, since basketball is a big part of all three High School Musical movies.

As soon as I arrived at the event, the first thing I noticed was that hundreds of photographers and reporters lined the red carpet. There were also very bright lights shining onto it, creating brightness as the sun set over Southern California. The scene was sensational.

Limousines pulled up to the red carpet one by one, and the fans standing to the side screamed as the stars arrived. They were especially loud when Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens pulled up. However, one of the very first to show up was director Kenny Ortega with his dog Manly (who also plays a cameo in the movie). Manly was certainly dressed for the occasion: He wore a pair of black sunglasses and a tiny tuxedo!

It was so cool to be able to see so many Disney Channel stars all in one location. Throughout the night, I had the opportunity to meet stars such as Selena Gomez from Wizards of Waverly Place, Brenda Song, and Alyson Stoner, and Meaghan Jette Martin from Camp Rock.

There were also many non–Disney Channel stars in attendance, such as baseball player Barry Bonds and his family; Julianne Hough from Dancing with the Stars (with her partner Cody Linley); and Paula Abdul from American Idol.

The excitement from the red carpet carried into the gymnasium. The gym floor had the Wildcats symbol on it, and all of the cast members signed its face. Prior to the movie, the Los Angeles Lakers' Laker Girls performed, T-shirts were shot at the audience, and different acts from USC warmed up the crowd. Popcorn and soda were served as guests filled the seats in high anticipation for the movie. It was obvious that many people spent a lot of time planning this event, because it was truly amazing.

I won't go into details about the movie, to prevent spoilers. But I will say that it is fantastic! It is a perfect way to end the series with the original cast.

I may never again have the chance to experience an event as spectacular as this. However, the feeling I had as I walked down the red carpet will remain with me forever as truly one of the most magical moments of my life.
