ELIGIBILITY: Sweepstakes is open only to teachers in grades pre-K through 8 registered on Scholastic.com who are legal residents of the United States and 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of Sponsor and its affiliates and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies, their immediate families and those living in their households are not eligible to enter. Void in Puerto Rico, Rhode Island and where prohibited by law. Subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY: To enter the Sweepstakes, go to http://www.scholastic.com/booklistsweepstakes, click on “Enter Here”, sign in with your user name and password or register as a teacher on Scholastic.com if you are not currently registered, complete the entry form and post 10 books or more on a book list. Completion of the entry form together with such a book list will automatically enter you in the Sweepstakes and is the only means of entering the Sweepstakes. Partially completed book lists (less than 10) will not be accepted. The Sweepstakes will be conducted in four rounds between February 29, 2008, and May 31, 2008. Each round of the Sweepstakes shall begin at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time (United States) on the applicable start date and shall end at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (United States) on the applicable end date. The start and end dates of each round are as follows: Round 1 – February 1, 2008/February 29, 2008; Round 2 – March 1, 2008/March 31, 2008; Round 3 – April 1, 20008/April 30, 2008; Round 4 – May 1st, 2008/May 31, 2008. Drawings will be held on the first day business day of each of March, April, May and June 2008. Entries are valid for all drawings that are held after the entry date, provided that in order to be eligible for a particular drawing, an online entry must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (United States) on the day before such drawing, i.e., on each of February 29, 2008, March 31, 2008, April 30, 2008, May 31, 2008,. and the deadline for all entries is 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (United States) on May 31, 2008. Enter as many times as you wish. Limit one prize per household. YOU MAY ONLY ENTER THIS SWEEPSTAKES ONLINE, NO OTHER METHOD OF ENTRY WILL BE ACCEPTED. No copies, facsimiles or reproductions of online entry form will be accepted. All entries become the exclusive property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Sponsor and its agencies shall not be liable for (a) telephone, electronic, program, network, Internet, or computer delays, deletions, interruptions or other failures of any kind; (b) late, lost, damaged, failed, misdirected, incomplete, garbled, unintelligible, or delayed computer messages; or (c) any human error that may occur in the processing of any entry, nor are they responsible for any theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, whether caused by the sender or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Sweepstakes. Proof of submission does not constitute proof of delivery.
PRIZE: One winner will be selected for each round of the Sweepstakes in each of the following grade groups, for a total of 28 prizes: Pre-K-K, 1-2, 3-5 and 6-8. Each winner will receive a library consisting of assorted Scholastic books which may consist of, without limitation, hard cover and/or soft cover fiction and/or reference books selected by Sponsor according to the grade group entered by the winner on his or her registration form (approximate retail value of each weekly prize: $150; aggregate approximate retail value of all prizes: $4,200). No substitution or transfer of prizes is permitted by the winner. Prizes are non-returnable and cannot be sold or redeemed for cash. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. The winner is responsible for payment of all federal, state or other tax liabilities (including income taxes) on any prize received.
PRIZE DRAWING: The winners of the Sweepstakes will be determined by random drawings conducted monthly starting on or about March 3, 2008, and on every first business day of the month thereafter until June 1,, 2008. Winners will be announced on or about September 1, 2008. Winners will be notified by e-mail on or about the same date as the drawing. Winners will have fourteen (14) days from notification to accept the prize by e-mail. Sponsor and its agencies shall not be liable for unsuccessful efforts to notify a winner. If a winner does not respond to notification of winner status within fourteen (14) days from notification, or if the winner does not meet qualification criteria, Sponsor reserves the right to select an alternate winner. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of a person submitting an on-line entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of the e-mail address at the time of entry. “Authorized Account Holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned the e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.
ODDS OF WINNING: The odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received by the Sweepstakes deadline.
GENERAL CONDITIONS: If the administration or integrity of the Sweepstakes is compromised or corrupted at any time, the Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the Sweepstakes. Sponsor and its agencies shall not be liable for any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from entering the Sweepstakes. Entrants agree that the decisions of Sponsor related to this Sweepstakes and all drawings are final. By entering the Sweepstakes, entrants agree to abide by these rules and to release and hold Sponsor and its agencies harmless from and against any and all damages and claims of any kind in connection with the Sweepstakes or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize. Winners may be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility and liability/right of publicity release, which may require winners to furnish their social security numbers; failure to do so within fourteen (14) days of receipt of such affidavit and release will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner. Except where prohibited, acceptance of a prize shall constitute and signify a winner's consent to the use of his/her name, address (city and state only), voice and/or photograph for promotional purposes in any media, including online, in perpetuity ONLY without further compensation. By registering to enter the Sweepstakes, entrants affirm that they have read and accepted these Official Sweepstakes Rules. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this Sweepstakes will be ineligible for prize.
