  • Session 1: The Power of the Booktalk!
    Booktalks introduce and entice readers to try new books! Learn how to incorporate booktalks into your campus literacy plans and watch your students' excitement for reading grow when they share booktalks with each other.

  • Session 2: Using Children's Literature to Enhance Students' Motivation in Science
    Students will learn to value reading different genres when they are exposed to children's literature in a variety of contexts and school subjects.

    This session will focus on examples of children's books that can be used with the science curriculum.

  • Session 3: BC4BOYZ (Book Club for Boys)
    Boys will read more if they are introduced to books that capture their interest. Find out how Lincoln Elementary School implemented a boys-only book club with 70 students and got amazing results.

  • Session 4: Trends and Developments in Children’s Literature
    Learn about the newest and best books available to incorporate into your staff's classroom curriculum and read-alouds. Multiple genres will be featured for grades K-8.

  • Session 5: Raising a Reader
    There are numerous ways to increase literacy development beyond the classroom. This hands-on experience will explore read-alouds and storytelling techniques, book selection tips, ways to establish meaningful discussions, and how to use writing to help families bond with their children and build a culture of literacy.
