Trial runs flex reading muscles
Each month, from January through April, Scholastic Book Fairs will conduct three-week Read for the World Record Trial Runs. At the end of each month, Scholastic will tally minutes logged by each school and post them on the Web site for all to see. With the start of each new month, previously logged minutes will be wiped clean, and a new Trial Run will begin. Participate in all four Trial Runs or choose the months that best fit your schedule!

Why participate in trial runs? Your child has the chance to:
   + Improve reading skills now
   + Practice logging reading minutes
+ Check out how the competition is doing
+ Be well prepared to take on the official Read for the World Record challenge on May 1, 2010!

The Scholastic Summer Challenge is summer-long global literacy campaign designed to motivate all children to read more so they maintain and improve their academic skills. Read for the World Record adds a big competition to the mix – set a new world record for summer reading – break the record of 35,846,094 minutes read! Plus, there’s a chance to see your child’s school named as one of the top 20 schools in the 2011 edition of the Scholastic Book of World Records!
