Campfire Pencil Pull Ignites a Love of Reading

Camp fire pencil pullS'more books? READ S'MORE!!!

We knew we wanted to keep our All for Books pencil pull with the camping theme and while looking at the flyer I got inspired.

The idea was to make a campfire base and s'more pencils. I used a flat circle foam board painted brown, cut out different color flames and did all the pencils with READ S'MORE cardstock squares.

We asked for a dollar donation (or 50 cents if they didn’t have a dollar) to pull a pencil for the chance to win a prize from another fundraiser as well as book gift cards. The students also got to keep the pencil they pulled.

We went to all the classrooms to tell the students and they loved the cute s'mores. We also promoted the pencil pull on our flyers and told everyone at the register checking out.

With the $65 we earned, we bought 25 books. Two books went directly to two students who teachers really felt needed them. The other 23 we put into our Tiger Buck store. The store is like a mini mart that students can buy things from using their Tiger Bucks, which they can earn for good behavior – teachers hand them out when they see fit.

Each book was 10 bucks, and all 23 sold the first day! Tolenas kids love Scholastic books.

We had a great time making the campfire and all the kids loved them!
