Connect More Kids and More Teachers With BooksOne for Books provides an easy and effective way to unite the school community and provide more books for kids and teachers. All funds collected through One for Books are used to buy more books from the Book Fair. Funds can be used to:
Each year, hundreds of schools across the country participate in One for Books. Scholastic matches the monetary donations schools receive with a donation of up to one million books to three national non-profit organizations dedicated to helping kids and families in need: Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc., National Center for Family Literacy, and Toys for Tots. By working together, we can help connect kids with more books than ever before. “The National Center for Family Literacy will use the One for Books donation to support family literacy efforts serving the most disadvantaged children and families. Millions of families do not have access to quality books and print materials. With Scholastic's support, NCFL helps families learn to read and enjoy education together.” —Emily Kirkpatrick, National Center for Family Literacy “With such a large quantity of books so generously donated by Scholastic we will be able to fulfill the holiday dreams of hundreds of thousands of our nation's neediest children this year. Not only will these children benefit from the recognition and excitement of a gift that they otherwise would likely not have received, they will experience the joy and adventure that can only come from reading.” —Bill Grein, Toys for Tots Scholastic Book Fairs Cares Hundreds of schools across the country have participated in One for Books.
