For at least 100 years, series books have enthralled young and older readers alike, hooking them on storylines and quirky characters that speak to them in a way they understand. A great way to keep kids on track with their reading goals over the summer is to introduce them to a popular series of books that will last throughout the summer break.

| Get Ready for Our Summer Reading Challenge |
Scholastic, along with Reach Out and Read, will once again challenge kids to set a new Read for the World Record during the Scholastic Summer Challenge, a free summer reading program that involves kids, parents, librarians, and educators from around the world in a global reading challenge.
This year's Summer Challenge ramps up with two live classroom webcasts. The first, "Series Favorites: Heroes, Scamps, & Sidekicks," featuring popular series authors, will be held April 17 at 1 p.m. (ET). | Online Fair Extension Maximizes Fair Access and Sales |
The Online Fair feature supplements the in-school Fair experience, opening up participation to those who are unable to travel to the actual Fair and expanding the shopping dates to up to 21 days. The link to activate the Online Fair option is accessible from the Chairperson's Toolkit, where chairpeople can select the Homepage-Online Fair tab.
To get started, a short online tutorial takes chairpeople through the Online Fair experience, including a walk-through of features, an explanation of how to set up the Fair, an overview of available promotional materials, and frequently asked questions. Keep Reading >>

| Winning School Shares Ideas From the Top Fair |
Media Specialist Heather Brown of Union Elementary School had a vision for her tiny rural school in Temple, Georgia: She wanted to see her school win first place in the Scholastic Book Fairs Fall 2011 National Elementary School Contest, and she intended to do everything within her power to make it happen.
It happened.
