S.S. Dixon Primary School
For S. S. Dixon Primary School, their All for Books campaign was worth its weight in gold. Librarian Selina Walker bought glow-in-the-dark plastic pumpkins for each classroom and challenged each class to collect as much loose change as they could to see who could “grow” the biggest. Some classes collected so many coins they needed two pumpkins, and the final total amounted to nearly $850! The winners got to shop at the Fair for books for their classroom library and the remaining donations were used to buy books for the school library, specifically sets of six to seven so students could read books together. The campaign was so successful that the librarian repurposed the pumpkins the following season, turning them into pearls for their Under the Sea Book Fair!
