Customer Service — Product Restocks

Scholastic Student Exchange Make Customers Feel Valued

Little touches make a big difference in how comfortable a customer feels at your Fair. Welcome shoppers. Make it easy for them to find and examine products of interest. Offer assistance.

Here's how student volunteers can help make all shoppers enjoy their visit to the Fair:

  • Assign students to walk the floor and remain accessible to shoppers. Ask volunteers to wear name tags, lanyards with name tags, or T-shirts that identify them to shoppers.
  • Provide a quick training session reminding volunteers to focus on customer service. Volunteers should be able to explain how the Fair is set up, where different products are located, and where to find prices on books.
Product Restocks
It is time to restock when you sell through a particular title and need additional copies for the remaining days of your Book Fair and Family Event.

Before placing a restock order:
  • Check bookcases and boxes to make sure there are no additional copies on hand.
  • Consider your number of remaining selling days. Orders received before noon will be shipped the same day. Allow one to two business days for delivery. Delivery time may vary according to your delivery driver route.
  • Focus on replenishing items that sold out at your Book Fair.
At the Cashier Table:
  • Keep a copy of the Restock Order Form at the cashier table. You can find a copy in your Chairperson's Toolkit. Encourage volunteers to list the items that will need to be restocked.
  • Place a binder at the cashier table to keep track of pre-paid orders, including each students name, grade, teacher's name, and amount paid. Please note the phone number of any pre-paid orders from non-students.
Placing a Restock Order:
  • Place orders using the new Restock Order Form (in the Book Fair Setup Kit or as an Excel file in your Chairperson's Toolkit). Your Sales Consultant or Customer Care Representative can also e-mail a copy of the form to you.
  • E-mail or fax your Restock Order. Call Customer Care if you need assistance.
  • You may place a final paid order on any outstanding pre-paid items that did not ship during the restock process at the close of your Book Fair. Allow 10 business days to fill paid orders.
  • Contact your Scholastic Book Fairs Sales Consultant with any questions.
