Scholastic Student Exchange — One for Books

One for Books One for Books Creates a Community of Readers

The new One for Books program is a fundraising program that taps the generosity and support for reading in your community. It was created to make it easier for everyone to play a part in getting more books into classrooms and to children who might not otherwise be able to afford them.

How does the program work? One for Books
Reach parents with a Letter Home (RTF 4KB), 2 weeks prior to your Fair. Invite them to purchase and sign a Book Slip for $1. They can send their donation to school or donate when they visit the Fair.

Involve local businesses by asking them to put a countertop display explaining the program at cash registers. In exchange for a $1 donation, patrons can sign a Book Slip that the business then displays. Book Fair volunteers collect cash contributions from businesses and deliver the money to the school.

Use the money to purchase more books from the Book Fair to help more students participate in the Book Fair, to help teachers improve classroom libraries, and to add books to the shelves of your school llibrary.
