One for Books
Kids in Distressed Situations will distribute books to schools, children, and organizations that were affected by Hurricane Katrina. Kids in Distressed Situations

Schools across the country helped the victims of Hurricane Katrina by conducting reading-based fundraisers, or participating in our One For Books program. Scholastic Book Fairs matched their efforts with a donation of nearly 300,000 books to Kids In Distressed Situations. K.I.D.S. distributed the books to schools, children, and organizations in areas affected by the hurricane.

Many schools held read-a-thons, while others conducted book drives, and collected spare change to help Gulf State area-schools.
