More than 375 works of art and writing will be on display at the National Art Exhibition
More than 500 award winners from across the country will attend the National Awards Ceremony on June 5, 2008. These students will be honored at Carnegie Hall in recognition of their achievement in The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards this year.
On Friday, June 6, award winners will attend workshops hosted by professional artists, writers and
creative industry leaders. Last year's workshops included studio visits with sculptor Tom Otterness, photographer Victor Sira, and painter Alex Beard, as well as discussions with Scholastic editors and literary agents. A list of 2008 Creative Industries Workshops will be emailed to national award winners in mid-May.
After the National Awards Ceremony, sponsors and patrons are invited to attend the annual fundraising benefit dinner for the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. This year, the Alliance will celebrate the rich history of The Awards by presenting the first Alumni Achievement Awards. Distinguished alumni Philip Pearlstein and Joyce Maynard will be honored by artist Chuck Close and author Meg Wolitzer.
