CONTEST: Animorphs Writing Contest

SPONSOR: Scholastic Inc., 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012

ELIGIBILITY: Contest is open only to legal residents of the USA ages 8-14. Void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. Subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY: To enter the contest, submit an essay 250 words or less answering the question: If you could choose one animal morph for yourself, which would it be and why? Mail entry with contact information (name, age, address, phone and email) to: Scholastic Inc., Animorphs Writing Contest (Attn: W.S.), 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012. MAIL ENTRY IS THE ONLY MEANS OF ENTRY. NO OTHER METHOD OF ENTRY WILL BE ACCEPTED. The contest will begin on December 1, 2011, and all entries must be received by March 1, 2012. One entry per person. No copies, facsimiles or reproductions of entries will be accepted. All entries, and all rights in winning entries, become the exclusive property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Sponsor and its parent, subsidiaries, brokers, distributors, dealers, retailers, affiliates, and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies, (collectively, the "Related Entities") shall not be liable for (a) late, lost, stolen, misdirected, damaged, mutilated, postage due, incomplete or illegible entries or mail; or (b) any human error that may occur in the processing of any entry, nor are they responsible for any theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, whether caused by the sender or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Contest. Proof of submission of the entry form does not constitute proof of delivery and receipt.

PRIZES: Entries will be judged based on content, technical execution, creativity, and clarity of thought, each weighted equally. One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be selected by Scholastic and K.A. Applegate on or about April 15, 2012. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a set of Animorphs books #1-6 signed by K.A. Applegate and one Nintendo 3DS. Approximate retail value of all prizes: $292.00. No substitution or transfer of prizes is permitted by the winners. Prize is non-returnable and cannot be sold or redeemed for cash. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Winner is responsible for payment of all federal, state or other tax liabilities (including income taxes) on any prize received. Nintendo has not authorized or endorsed this contest and is not involved with this contest in any way.

Winner will be notified by email, postal mail or telephone using the contact information provided to Sponsor. The winner, and his/her parent/legal guardian, will be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release within five (5) days of notification attempt or an alternate winner may be selected. Prizes will be sent to the mailing addresses provided in the winner’s contest entry. Winner may also be asked to attend and participate in media and/or public relations events (the "Media Events") designated by Scholastic, prize provider, and/or requested by various media outlets. Upon Scholastic’s request, and subject to winner’s availability, the winner agrees to participate in such Media Events without any further compensation. By accepting the prize, winner agrees to release Scholastic Inc., the prize provider and their respective related entities, and hold each of them harmless, from any claims relating to their participation or non-participation in any Media Events.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: If the administration or integrity of the Contest is compromised or corrupted at any time, the Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the Contest. Entrants agree that the decisions of Sponsor in connection with all matters related to this Contest are final and binding. By entering the Contest, all entrants and their parent/guardian, agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor, each prize provider in this contest, and their respective Related Entities from any and all liability, damages and claims of any kind in connection with the Contest or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize. Except where prohibited, winner agrees and consents to the use of his/her name, address, likeness and/or entry by Sponsor in any and all media for any and all lawful purposes, whether advertising, promotion or trade, including without limitation online and in print, in perpetuity without further notice or compensation. By entering the Contest, entrants affirm that they have read and accepted these Official Rules. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this Contest will be ineligible for prizes.

WINNER LIST: Winner’s name will be available after the completion of the Contest. To obtain the name of the Contest winner, send a request, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope, after April 30, 2012 to: Scholastic Inc., Animorphs Writing Contest (Attn: W.S.), 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012. Requests must be received before July 30, 2012.
