Jake
Jake was just an average kid. He liked basketball and playing video games with his best friend, Marco. But his whole life changed one seeming normal evening, when he and his friends are suddenly thrust into a secret war for the planet. Now, whether he likes it or not, Jake has to become more than just an everyday teen boy. He has to become the leader of the Animorphs.
Marco
Marco acts like a constant joker, living life as if it’s one big comedy routine. Inside, however, he’s conflicted. He never wanted to join the fight against the Yeerks, but did anyway because of his dedication to his best friend, Jake. But Marco soon finds out he’s got another major motive for kicking Yeerk butt...
Cassie
Cassie is the daughter of two veterinarians, and shares their love for animals. She lives on a farm with her parents where her father runs a clinic to help injured wild animals. Only Cassie has a closer connection to animals: She can turn into them. But Cassie has qualms. Can she use the animals she loves to fight and sometimes kill other sentient creatures—even innocent ones? Can she really enjoy what it's like to become an animal when paired with all the costs of becoming an Animorph?
Rachel
Rachel is the definition of “things aren’t always as they appear.” Though beautiful, she’s definitely no airhead mallrat. She’s smart and brave—sometimes to the point of being reckless—and also a dedicated friend.
Tobias
Tobias is often misunderstood. He’s a shy, quiet, parentless boy who is bullied at school and ignored by an uncaring uncle at home. But he becomes the first of the Animorphs to morph, and convinces Jake to lead the group. As a result of Jake saving Tobias from a group of bullies, Tobias strongly believes in Jake’s leadership skills and rarely questions him.
