Special Education

Beginning in January 2006, districts and schools are permitted to use up to 15% of their Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) funds for interventions and measurements to be used with Response to Intervention (RtI) services.

Young students with disabilities, regardless of type, almost universally have essential language development and early literacy learning needs that focus on both oral language development and facility with print.  Building Language for Literacy is a research-based instructional program designed to develop oral language, phonological awareness, print awareness, and alphabetical knowledge for young English- and Spanish-speaking children using approaches recommended by the National Reading Panel and in the NAEYC/IRA Joint Position Statement.

FASTT Math is designed to help students with disabilities develop fluency with basic math facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. In just 10 minutes a day, the FASTT system (Fluency and Automaticity through Systematic Teaching with Technology), builds math fact fluency, freeing up mental resources for higher-order thinking skills such as advanced computation, problem solving, and algebra.

System 44 System 44 was designed for your most challenged, struggling readers in Grades 3-12. System 44 helps students understand that the English language is a finite system of 44 sounds and 26 letters that can be mastered. The program invites students to "crack the code" and join the community of readers, and provides educators with a comprehensive set of tools to meet this challenge.
