Scholastic Library Publishing, which includes the prestigious Grolier®, Children's Press®, Franklin Watts® and Grolier Online imprints, and is a division of Scholastic Inc., today named Anne Hoppe as Director of Trade, Special and Wholesales Sales. In this newly created position, she will be responsible for sales of Children's Press and Franklin Watts titles through channels not served by Scholastic Library Publishing's in-house sales force. Hoppe will report to Scholastic Library Publishing's President, Neal Goff.
Hoppe brings a wealth of experience to her new role at Scholastic. Most recently, she was Director of Special Sales for LPC Group Independent Publishers' Distributors in Milford, CT. Earlier, she worked at Reader's Digest and was Director of National Accounts for The Millbrook Press in Brookfield, CT. Prior to that, Hoppe worked for Waldenbooks in a variety of positions, including Senior Buyer for Children's books and Merchandise Manager in the Reader's Market/Kmart division. Past achievements include building business with major accounts such as Target, Kmart, and T.J. Maxx/Marshalls, and while at Waldenbooks purchasing titles that generated $40 million in annual book sales at 1,000 retail locations.
In making the announcement, Neal Goff said: "Anne's strong background in publishing and book retailing positions her to increase sales for Children's Press and Franklin Watts in the trade, special, and wholesale channels with which she is so familiar."
Scholastic Library Publishing is the publisher of such notable reference resources as Encyclopedia Americana®, New Book of Knowledge®, Nueva enciclopedia Cumbre en linea (the Spanish language encyclopedia), The New Book of Popular Science, and Lands and Peoples, all available both in print and through Grolier Online. In addition, the division is the leading publisher of nonfiction children's books through its Children's Press and Franklin Watts imprints, producing such series as True Books, America the Beautiful, and Cornerstones of Freedom. Scholastic acquired Grolier in June, 2000.
