SCHOLASTIC MEDIA AND WENDY’S TEAM UP FOR INNOVATIVE FALL PROMOTION


First-Of-Its-Kind Promotion Distributes Original DVD Games Based On Clifford The Big Red Dog®, I Spy, Goosebumps® and Maya & Miguel™

New York, NY (November 13, 2006) -- Families visiting Wendy’s Restaurants this fall will receive learning-based DVD games from Scholastic Media.  From November 13th through December 17th, any Kids’ Meal purchased from a participating Wendy’s Restaurant will include one of four original DVD games based on some of Scholastic’s most popular children’s properties: Clifford The Big Red Dog®, I Spy, Goosebumps® and Maya & Miguel™.  Each DVD features a cleverly designed activity guaranteed to involve and entertain young minds. 
 
“We are delighted to work with Wendy’s again on a unique multi-brand promotion that will appeal to a broad audience.  We are tapping into the best of the best in the Scholastic library to provide a great range of educational and entertaining games that we’re sure
families will enjoy,” said Leslye Schaefer, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Consumer Products for Scholastic Media. 
 
The DVD games featured in the program are intended to challenge children to sharpen their memory skills, engage in shape and color recognition, and in the case of Maya and Miguel’s Audio Match Game, enhance their foreign language capabilities.  The games are designed to be easy enough for young children to play alone or with friends as well as provide enough entertainment to appeal to the entire family. 
 
“Wendy’s has a long tradition as a place where families can dine together,” said Ana Hernandez, Director of Youth Marketing for Wendy’s.  “These new Kids Meal games are a great fit for our customers because they encourage families to spend quality time together and have fun at the same time.”  The games can be played either on a TV or a computer that is equipped with a DVD player.
 
The promotion will be supported through point-of-purchase materials both at the pick-up-window and in-store as well as colorful Kids Meal bags that capture the spirit of the four Scholastic properties.
