SCHOLASTIC EDUCATION APPOINTS EDUARDO APARICIO, MANAGING DIRECTOR OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING  (ELL)



New York, NY (July 11, 2006) -- Scholastic Education, a division of Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, today announced the appointment of Eduardo Aparicio as Managing Director of English language learning (ELL). In this position, Aparicio will lead Scholastic Education’s efforts to continue to develop, publish and market high-quality, research-based reading programs that meet the needs of English language learners. He will also oversee the growth of Scholastic Zip Zoom™ English, which combines interactive, engaging software with explicit instruction and groundbreaking leveled readers to simultaneously accelerate children’s language and literacy development.  Aparicio will report to Jason Moss, Vice President, Curriculum Solutions, Scholastic Education.
 
In making the announcement, Moss said, “Eduardo brings to Scholastic a strong record of developing successful products for the K-8 ELL and bilingual markets. I am confident that his deep knowledge of the educational needs of English langauge learners and their teachers will further enable Scholastic to publish programs that help all students become successful readers and learners.”
 
Prior to joining Scholastic, Aparicio was Executive Editor for ELL/Bilingual at Harcourt Achieve and Supervising Editor for ELL/Bilingual at Rigby Education. Before joining Rigby in 2000, he was President of Aparicio & Associates, Inc., where he led a team of editors, writers, and translators in the development of a wide range of products for major educational publishers. Aparicio holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University and is also a published author of several books and articles.
