Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, today announced the appointment of Alan Boyko as President, Scholastic Book Fairs. Mr. Boyko has been an integral part of the growth and success of the Book Fair business for the past seventeen years, developing and building the Fairs publishing and customized product offerings, and working closely with the marketing division and field sales team. He assumes responsibility for managing all U.S. Book Fair business which generated about $360 million in revenue in fiscal 2004. Mr. Boyko will report to Lisa Holton, President, Scholastic Book Fairs and Trade.
In announcing Mr. Boyko’s appointment, Ms. Holton said, “Alan is deeply knowledgeable about all aspects of our Fairs business. Mr. Boyko inherits the robust Fairs division from his predecessor, David Krishock, whose visionary leadership and contributions to the Company will continue to benefit the Fairs business for years to come. Mr. Krishock has joined Vista Management as a Partner to assist in growing and expanding their portfolio of companies.
Mr. Boyko joined Scholastic in 1988 with the acquisition of Apple Book Company, a regional distributor of books and book Fairs in North Carolina. Since joining Scholastic, he has held a variety of positions in marketing, sales and product development, including oversight of Scholastic’s proprietary imprint, Tangerine Press®. Mr. Boyko has been instrumental in designing exciting Fair promotions, and in delivering the widest, most affordable range of high-interest books to children, parents and teachers who take part in Scholastic Book Fairs.
Scholastic Book Fairs, in partnership with schools all across the country, hosts more than 110,000 annual book sale events, reaching more than 30 million children in pre-school through 9th grade.
