SCHOLASTIC TEXT TALK WINS GOLDEN LAMP FROM THE ASSOCIATION OF EDUCATIONAL PUBLISHERS


SCHOLASTIC RECEIVES TWELVE EDPRESS AWARDS, MOST PRESTIGIOUS HONORS IN THE EDUCATIONAL PUBLISHING INDUSTRY

New York, NY (June 14, 2006) -- Scholastic Text Talk, a research-based vocabulary program for K-3 students that builds oral vocabulary and comprehension skills, received the highest honor in educational publishing last week, winning the prestigious Golden Lamp Award from the Association of Educational Publishers (EdPress).  EdPress lauded Text Talk for being pedagogically sound, having high quality product design and being an effective example of translating research into practice. 
 
Scholastic, the global children’s publishing and media company, was also honored with 11 Distinguished Achievement Awards and a Beacon Award for best catalog for “Scholastic Solutions for Special Education Success.”  The winners were announced at the 43rd Annual Awards Banquet & Gala, held Friday, June 9 in Washington, DC.

Since 1964, EdPress has recognized excellence in educational publishing with the Distinguished Achievement Awards, which have grown in scope and distinction to become the highest honor in the industry.  The Golden Lamp, EdPress’ most exclusive award, recognizes the finest overall product or publication in the categories of Books, Instructional Materials, Periodicals, and Technology.
