SCHOLASTIC'S CLASSROOM MAGAZINE SCIENCE WORLD® WINS GOLDEN LAMP AND PERIODICAL OF THE YEAR AWARDS FROM THE ASSOCIATION OF EDUCATIONAL PUBLISHERS (EDPRESS)

New York, NY (June 13, 2002) -- Scholastic's Science World Magazine, the leading provider of current science information to schools, received the highest honors in educational publishing last week, winning the prestigious Golden Lamp and Periodical of the Year Awards from the Associated of Educational Publishers (EdPress). Science World's honors were among the 13 Distinguished Achievements received by Scholastic, the global children's publishing and media company. The Awards were presented at the 39th annual banquet at the National Press Club, Washington D.C., on Wednesday, June 5th.

Since 1964, EdPress has recognized excellence in educational publishing with the Distinguished Achievement Awards, which have grown in scope and distinction to become the highest honor in the industry. The Golden Lamp, EdPress' most exclusive award, recognizes the finest overall product or publication in the categories of Books, Instructional Materials, Periodicals, and Technology.
