SCHOLASTIC LIBRARY PUBLISHING DIVISION NAMES LARRY TINKER, VICE PRESIDENT NATIONAL SALES

New York, NY (June 6, 2002) -- Scholastic Library Publishing, which includes the prestigious Grolier reference imprints, and is a division of Scholastic Inc., today announced Larry Tinker as Vice President of National Sales. He will oversee a consolidated in-house sales force for the division's Grolier, Children's Press, Franklin Watts and Grolier Online imprints. Tinker will report to Scholastic Library Publishing's President, Neal Goff, who joined the company in March 2002.

With this new title, Larry Tinker celebrates his twenty-fourth year with the company. He first began his career at Grolier Publishing in 1978, selling the industry's leading library imprints, Children's Press and Franklin Watts. Over the years, he moved up the management ranks to become Regional Director of Sales for Grolier Educational, where he has spent the past thirteen years.

Under the new division structure put in place recently, Mr. Tinker will oversee one consolidated sales force, consisting of 90 in-house representatives for all of the division's imprints.

Scholastic Library Publishing's strategic decision to manage library sales solely through in-house representatives will benefit its customers by making all of its products available conveniently from one source. The consolidated sales force representing Children's Press, Franklin Watts and Grolier's print and online reference products will carry a unique offering for school and public libraries, meeting the complete range of its customers' needs for K-12 reference materials and children's nonfiction books.

"Larry is a seasoned veteran in the library publishing business. His experience and knowledge will be invaluable as we build the strongest sales force in the business to present all of our products—print and electronic—to librarians throughout the country," said Neal Goff, President of Scholastic Library Publishing.
