E-SCHOLASTIC NAMES DAVID GODDY VICE PRESIDENT, STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT FOR SCHOLASTIC.COM



New York, NY (May 10, 2005) -- E-Scholastic, the online division of Scholastic, the global children’s publishing and media company, today announced the appointment of David Goddy to the position of Vice President, Strategic Development.  Goddy joins the e-Scholastic division from his role as Vice President of Scholastic Education, where he served as the Publisher of both the Classroom Magazine Division as well as Upper Elementary and Secondary Curriculum Publishing.  Goddy will report to Seth Radwell, President of e-Scholastic.
 
In his new role, Goddy will draw on his extensive experience as a publisher in the Education Division, as well as his deep knowledge of the school market, to further develop the opportunities for the education and institutional markets on Scholastic.com. Goddy will work closely with the e-Scholastic, Book and Education groups to help expand online services and support for teachers, educators and administrators who rely on Scholastic.com for rich educational content and online purchasing of education programs, classroom and professional development materials, in addition to online ordering services for Scholastic Book Clubs and Software Clubs.

David Goddy’s extensive career at Scholastic spans both print and educational software. In his most recent role, Goddy oversaw development of several key technology programs, including Read 180®, Scholastic’s premier reading intervention program. Originally a journalist, Goddy held many senior editorial positions in the Classroom Magazine Division, including Vice President and Editor-in-Chief, where he oversaw 32 educational magazines that reach more than 25 million students and their teachers. Some of Goddy’s many successes include the creation of Scholastic News Online, a leading educational news site for kids ages 6-14, and The New York Times UPFRONT®, a groundbreaking news magazine in partnership with The New York Times for high-school students.
