During his 10 years at Scholastic, the company has grown from $630 million in revenues and 5,000 employees to double the number of employees and more than $2 billion in revenue.  Larry Holland was instrumental in overseeing the transition of acquired businesses and new employees into the Scholastic family, including Grolier, a respected publisher of educational materials; Klutz, the foremost publisher of “books plus”; Tom Snyder Productions, a leading developer and publisher of educational software; and Quality Educational Data (QED), a leading education market research and data company.

“Larry has been a trusted friend and advisor to me both professionally and personally,” said Dick Robinson, Chairman, President, and CEO of Scholastic. “He has been instrumental in recruiting every new top management person who has joined the company in the past ten years, as well as counseling hundreds of people in the company on how to improve their management skills and work better with their colleagues. He has been an eloquent leader in the areas of diversity and support for literacy and learning both within the company and among the teachers, parents and children we serve.”

“What makes Scholastic unique is the commitment of its employees to the company’s mission of putting books into the hands of children and creating the best education and entertainment products and programs that parents trust and kids love,” said Mr. Holland.  “That dedication starts at the top and is what makes Scholastic an extraordinary company to work for.  While I will miss my colleagues and friends, the needs of my family require my full attention now.”
