Scholastic, a leading pre-K-12 educational publisher, and global children's publishing and media company today announced the appointment of Mary Mitchell to Senior Vice President, Strategic Marketing for Scholastic Education. Ms. Mitchell was most recently a Senior Partner and Client Services Director for OgilvyOne advertising agency in New York, where she was responsible for global clients such as Cisco, SAP, Kimberly Clark and Unilever. In this newly created position, Ms. Mitchell will report to Margery Mayer, President Scholastic Education.

In her new role at Scholastic Education, Ms. Mitchell will take advantage of the company's leading position in educational technology with breakthrough programs like READ 180®, to further build strategic marketing initiatives and customer loyalty programs using Scholastic's e-commerce, the company's sales force, telesales, direct mail and catalog marketing, as well as leveraging internal and external business channels to reach educators.
Prior to her two-year post at OglivyOne, Ms. Mitchell held top positions at Foote Cone & Belding (FCB) in New York and San Francisco. Her most recent position was Executive Vice President and Managing Partner, FCB/San Francisco, where she helped build FCBi, an award-winning interactive agency with clients such as Hewlett Packard/Compaq, Avaya, Taco Bell and Blue Shield of California. Ms. Mitchell was previously at Scholastic serving as Director of Marketing Communications for the Instructional Publishing Group, where she helped launch the company's basal textbook business and managed catalog and direct marketing initiatives. Ms. Mitchell spent the first eight years of her career at Ogilvy & Mather Direct in New York.
Ms. Mitchell is a member of the board of directors for Girl's Prep, a rigorous all-girls charter school opening September, 2004 in New York City. She holds a B.A. from the College of William and Mary and resides in Manhattan.
