ANN M. MARTIN, BELOVED AND BEST-SELLING AUTHOR OF THE BABY-SITTERS CLUB, MAKES ANTICIPATED RETURN TO SERIES PUBLISHING WITH THE LAUNCH OF MAIN STREET

“WELCOME TO CAMDEN FALLS” IS THE FIRST BOOK IN NEW SERIES TO BE PUBLISHED SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH AUDIOBOOK

New York, NY (March 20, 2007) -- Scholastic is excited to announce Ann M. Martin’s return to storytelling with the launch of Main Street, a new series from the best-selling The Babysitters Club® author and Newbery Honor award winner. Welcome to Camden Falls, the first book in the series, will be published simultaneously in May by Scholastic Paperbacks and Scholastic Audio, with the audiobook to be read by Ariadne Myers. The second title, Needle and Thread, will be published in August in both formats.

Main Street follows Flora and Ruby, sisters who find friendship, family, hope, and a place to call home in their newly-adopted town of Camden Falls.

“Ann Martin is one of the great American children’s book authors,” said Lisa Holton, President of Scholastic Trade and Book Fairs. "This new series has all the elements of vintage Martin: deft storytelling, compelling characters, and a deep understanding of the inner life of young girls. In the small, friendly town of Camden Falls, she has created a new world where readers will want to live.”

“We are thrilled to publish Ann M. Martin’s highly anticipated new series on audio,” said Jennifer Feldman, Publisher, Scholastic Audio Group. “The Baby-Sitters Club series was such a memorable part of so many young girls’ lives, and now those girls will be able to share Martin’s storytelling with their own daughters with the Main Street series.”

MAIN STREET #1: WELCOME TO CAMDEN FALLS SYNOPSIS:
Flora and Ruby do not want to move to Camden Falls.  But they don’t really have a choice—their parents are dead and their grandmother, Min, is taking them in.  It’s strange to be in a new place.  But luckily, it’s a very welcoming place.

Min runs a sewing store, Needle & Thread, at the heart of Main Street in Camden Falls.  There, Flora and Ruby become friends with Olivia, who likes to organize things, and Nikki, who lives on the wrong side of the tracks.  Even if Flora and Ruby never expected it to, Camden Falls becomes their home… and its stories become a part of their stories.

MAIN STREET #2: NEEDLE AND THREAD SYNOPSIS:
It’s autumn in Camden Falls, and Flora and Ruby are just starting to settle into the town.  Flora is worried about spending the first Thanksgiving without their parents.  Ruby is worried about getting a part in her school musical.  And their new friends, Olivia and Nikki, are facing problems of their own.  But the friendship that ties them together will also give them the strength to work things out—one stitch at a time.
