Scholastic, the global children’s publishing and education company announced today the appointment of Kristin DeVivo, as the Director of Research and Evaluation for its Education Division, where the company holds a leadership position in publishing reading improvement programs that meet the needs of all children from pre-K to high school. Ms. DeVivo will report to Francie Alexander, Vice President and Chief Academic Officer for Scholastic Education.
Ms. DeVivo joins Scholastic from LeapFrog SchoolHouse, where she spent the past two years as the research manager, developing and implementing research studies for their K-5 programs, as well as playing a significant role in assessment product development. From 1997-2000, Ms. DeVivo worked as a research associate at Scientific Learning where she managed research pilots for their products including developing processes to gather and analyze outcomes data. In addition, Ms. DeVivo has also worked as a researcher at the University of California at San Francisco in developmental neuropsychology and at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York in behavioral neurology.
In her role at Scholastic, Ms. DeVivo will oversee the on-going research and effectiveness of Scholastic’s education programs, where the company remains at the forefront of the educational publishing industry, developing and marketing products that are both scientifically research-based, and are supported with evaluative study and formal validation. Ms. DeVivo will continue the groundbreaking research study of READ 180®, the company’s flagship reading intervention product, one of the most intensely researched technology interventioneducational programs on the market.
