Scholastic, the global children's publishing and media company, today announced the appointment of Kyle Good as Vice President, Corporate Communications and Media Relations, succeeding Judy Corman, who passed away on November 15, 2004. In this role, Ms. Good will be responsible for overseeing communications strategies for all divisions of the company including book publishing, education, entertainment, international, finance, e-Scholastic, and community relations. She will also support the strategic communications plan for the July 16, 2005 release of
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the sixth book in the best-selling series by J.K. Rowling. Ms. Good will report to Dick Robinson, Chairman, President and CEO of Scholastic.
A veteran communications professional with 30 years of experience in education, journalism, children's advocacy and public relations, Ms. Good joined Scholastic in September 2003. She has been instrumental in raising national awareness of READ 180®, the company's groundbreaking reading intervention program, securing national media coverage and created the READ 180 All Star Awards to honor students who have made significant improvements in reading. She also developed a partnership between Scholastic News and NBC News to report on Election 2004 that culminated with Scholastic becoming the exclusive education partner of Democracy Plaza, a 17-day celebration of democracy and citizenship in New York City's Rockefeller Plaza.

Prior to joining Scholastic, Ms. Good served as the Director of Communications for the Children's Defense Fund (CDF), the nation's premier children's advocacy organization. Ms. Good was an award-winning network television news producer/director at CBS News and NBC News where she worked on numerous breaking news specials, election night coverage, and morning news and primetime news programs. Kyle began her career as a fifth grade schoolteacher in Fairfax County, Virginia.
