Abigail McAden will be joining Scholastic on March 6th as Editorial Director of Point, Scholastic’s teen paperback line. She will report to Craig Walker, Vice President and Editorial Director.
In her new position, McAden will build on Point's great history and success by acquiring exciting, vibrant, and commercial fiction for teens in both hardcover and paperback. She will develop new and creative publishing programs and use her strong teen market savvy to bring Point to an even larger and contemporary marketplace.
McAden was most recently an Executive Editor at HarperCollins Children’s Books where she acquired and edited high profile authors including Meg Cabot and Michele Jaffe and was responsible for Harper’s teen reprint program, paperback original publishing, and served as the paperback reprint editor for all Joanna Cotler imprint titles. Additionally, she managed licensed publishing programs for Seventeen and Teen People magazines, developed historical teen romance series, as well as special opportunity titles. McAden began her publishing career at Avon Books for Young Readers where she held various editorial positions and acquired novels including Meg Cabot’s The Princess Diaries.
McAden graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College and has a Master of Library Science from Queens College. She resides in Manhattan.
