Scholastic Red Names Eunice Greer, Director of Content for Professional Development


New York, NY (February 7, 2005) -- Scholastic, the global children's publishing and media company, today announced the appointment of Eunice Greer as Director of Content for Professional Development. In her new role, Dr. Greer will oversee all content development for Scholastic Red, the breakthrough online and in-person professional development program that helps teachers of every grade level and subject learn strategies to improve their reading instruction. Dr. Greer will report to John Lent, Vice President, Scholastic Education.
 
A prominent researcher and leader in the reading community, Dr. Greer was most recently Senior Research Analyst at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) in Washington, DC. At AIR, she directed the development of Reading and Language Arts Assessment for the Ohio Assessment Project and served as a Senior Content Advisor to a nationwide implementation study of Reading First, and to the Reading Test Design and Development for the South Carolina Assessment Project.
 
Prior to joining AIR, Dr. Greer worked at the Illinois State Department of Education, first as head of the Division of Statewide Standards and Assessment and then as Associate State Superintendent for Special Initiatives and Director of Illinois READS. She has also worked at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the University of Illinois and has consulted for major educational organizations including the U.S. Department of Education, ACHIEVE, Inc., NAEP, the New Standards Project, the National Center on Education and the Economy, and ETS. Dr. Greer, who began her career as a classroom teacher, earned her B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois.
