TV TWINS MAYA & MIGUEL “KICK IT” WITH US YOUTH SOCCER SHARING A PASSION FOR THE GAME WITH KIDS ACROSS THE COUNTRY


Scholastic Media’s Hit Series Appears at Several Kohl’s American Cup Events

New York, NY (March 12, 2007) -- This spring, summer, and fall everyone’s favorite TV twins, Maya and Miguel Santos, will “kick it” with the United States Youth Soccer (US Youth Soccer), bringing soccer fun and a passion for the game to kids across the country. Scholastic Media announced today that its hit series Maya & Miguel – airing on PBS KIDS GO!sm – will team-up to promote the program at several Kohl’s US Youth Soccer American Cup Tournaments, including on-site character appearances, screening events, and much more.  The promotion kicks off in March and lasts through September. 
 
As part of this collaboration, Maya & Miguel will have an active presence at 12 Kohl’s American Cup tournaments across the country. At each location, youth soccer players will have an opportunity to play a Maya & Miguel – themed soccer game, screen special episodes of the hit series, get their photo taken with the Maya and Miguel costume characters and receive special Maya & Miguel prizes, including DVDs, and trading cards.
 
Online activities at pbskidsgo.org/mayaandmiguel will complement the fun festivities at the tournaments.  Like the live events, the site will have fun games and activities that will stimulate and enhance kids’ love of soccer.

The Kohl's American Cup provides recreational youth soccer players with an opportunity to experience a high-quality statewide tournament in a fun and festive atmosphere, fostering kids’ excitement and love for the game.
 
US Youth Soccer is a non-profit and educational organization whose mission is to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of America's youth through the sport of soccer at all levels of age and competition.
 
Maya & Miguel, now in its third season, continues to be a top-rated show on PBS KIDS GO! and has established a powerful connection with its audience.  The series is designed to present culture and language learning as fun, relevant, and rewarding for all children, with a special emphasis on the Latino population.
