New York,
NY (July
29,
2005) --
Loews Cineplex Entertainment Corporation, Scholastic Entertainment and SPORTS ILLUSTRATED FOR KIDS invite children, 12 and under, to visit the Magic Johnson Theatre in Harlem on Wednesday, August 3rd to meet their favorite Scholastic characters Clifford The Big Red Dog and popular twins Maya and Miguel.
Clifford The Big Red Dog is a “bone”afide children’s literary classic first written and illustrated by Norman Bridwell in 1963. A beloved character, Clifford started out as the runt of the litter but thanks to the love of his “owner,” a little girl named Emily Elizabeth, he grew to be larger-than-life. In fall 2000, Clifford made his TV debut on PBS KIDS and the animated series rapidly has become one of today’s biggest hits. The TV show features the fun-filled adventures of Clifford and his friends T-Bone and Cleo on dog-bone shaped “Birdwell Island.” Lively and colorful, Maya & Miguel, the #1 new show on PBS KID GO!, chronicles the hilarious adventures of 10-year-old twins Maya and Miguel Santos and features their family, friends and a richly diverse neighborhood. This never-a-dull-moment situation comedy revolves around Maya’s well-intended meddling in her family’s and friends’ lives, resulting in many humorous twists and turns.
The character appearances are part of Loews 2005 FREE Summer Kids Film Series and will take place prior to the start of the movie. The program, which offers free admission to kids under the age of 12 and accompanying adults, features a different great family movie each week (schedule below). Loews developed the program to offer families an entertaining way to escape the summer heat and to thank their patrons for their loyal patronage throughout the year.
“For many children, meeting their favorite character is a like a dream come true,” said John McCauley, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Loews Cineplex Entertainment. “We are pleased to fulfill the fantasies of our younger patrons.”
Loews 2005 FREE Summer Kids Film Series is offered at the Magic Johnson Theatre in Harlem, and other theatres throughout the country through August 17. Films are shown every Wednesday at 11a.m (ET) and admission is free for children under 12 and accompanying adults. Loews also offers a special kids concession combo of popcorn and soda at a discounted price of $4.25.
