2008 Summer Internship Program

What is the application deadline?
We must have your application by Monday, March 24, 2008. The application process is now closed.

What does the internship pay?
Interns are paid $11 per hour. We have also have internships for credit which are not paid.

What are the internship areas available?
A list of departments accepting interns is on the How to Apply page.

Are there internships available in the fall or winter?
Occasionally. If any positions are available they will be listed online. Select Internships in Area of Interest.

What is the dress code?
Dress codes vary by department you work in but generally business casual is appropriate — no flip flops, tank tops, short shorts, etc.

Are there any activies during the internship program?
Yes, if you are in the NY program we have weekly sessions where you get a chance to hear from SVP, VP, and Senior Managers giving career advice and information regarding their divisions. There will also be mentoring sessions and other activities such as a newsletter.

I am not from the New York area. Do you have information regarding housing?
Please note that housing is ultimately the responsibility of the intern. Some suggsestions can be found here (MS Word document).

Where are the internships available at Scholastic?
The main program is in New York City, with additional internships in Danbury, CT, and Secaucus, NJ.

Where in New York City is Scholastic located?
Our corporate offices are located at 557 Broadway in the downtown Manhattan neighborhood of SoHo. Google map of 557 Broadway.

What are the work hours?
Typically nine to five, but may vary slightly depending on the department.

What kind of writing or art sample should I send?
Send a body of work that tells us who you are and that best represents you.

I am not a college junior or senior can I still apply?
Yes. Although main program is geared toward juniors and seniors a few opportunities will be provided for freshmen, sophomores and even graduate students.
