About The Summer Internship Program

Our Summer Internship Program is open to junior and senior college students and graduating seniors. It provides an opportunity to gain experience in a variety of Scholastic businesses.

General Information & Requirements:

  • Our summer internship program runs 8 weeks and all intern positions are paid. (Housing and Travel Expenses are the responsibility of the intern.)
  • Qualified candidates should be entering their junior or senior year of an accredited college or art school.
  • All students must be in good academic standing and have strong computer skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • All interns must be able to work a 35 hour week.

Selection of Interns:

  • Interns are selected on the basis of their academic standing, participation in extracurricular activities, and previous work and/or internship experience. Students with a demonstrated interest in publishing and/or media are highly desirable.
  • Interns may be interviewed by telephone or at a Scholastic office. References may be requested

Do you only have a summer intern program or do you have openings in the fall, winter, and spring?

Our corporate internship program is in the summer. Sometimes in the fall and winter we may have internship opportunities for paid interns. If opportunities become available they are posted online in the Scholastic Career Center. You can search the main Career Center page for internship opportunities.

What is the dress code

Dress codes vary by department, but generally, business casual is appropriate.

Are there any activities during the internship program?

Yes, if you are in the NY program we have scheduled sessions where you get a chance to hear from Scholastic leaders who give career advice and information regarding their divisions. There will also be mentoring sessions and other activities such as a newsletter.

I am not from NY. Do you have information regarding housing?

Please note that housing is ultimately the responsibility of the intern.

In which locations are internships available?

The main internship program is hosted in our corporate offices in New York City. Sometimes we may have an opportunity in our Secaucus, NJ location.

Where in New York is Scholastic's corporate headquarters?

Corporate headquarters is located in SoHo in lower Manhattan, one of the trendiest neighborhoods in New York City.

What are the work hours?

Typically the work hours are nine to five but may vary slightly depending on department.

I am not a college junior or senior. May I still apply?

Our corporate-sponsored program is geared toward juniors and seniors, occasionally a few opportunities will be provided to graduate students.
