Scholastic is the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books. With more than 90 years in children's publishing, Scholastic's philosophy remains: every child deserves the opportunity to learn to read and develop a love of reading for a lifetime. We believe that literacy – the ability to read, write, and understand – is the birthright of every child in the world as well as the pathway to succeed in school and realize a complete life.
Our Summer Internship Program is open to junior and senior college students and graduating seniors. It provides an opportunity to gain experience in a variety of Scholastic businesses.
The application process for our Summer 2014 program will start in late winter or early Spring. Please check back then for further information on the application process.
Our main internship program is in the summer. Sometimes in the fall and winter we may have internship opportunities for paid interns or 'college credit' interns. If opportunities become available they are posted online in the Scholastic Career Center. You can search the main Career Center page for internship opportunities.
Dress codes vary by department, but generally, business casual is appropriate.
Yes, if you are in the NY program we have weekly sessions where you get a chance to hear from SVPs, VPs and Senior Managers giving career advice and information regarding their divisions. There will also be mentoring sessions and other activities such as a newsletter.
Please note that housing is ultimately the responsibility of the intern.
The main internship program is hosted in our corporate offices in New York City. Sometimes we may have an opportunity in other locations, such as Secaucus, NJ; Danbury, CT; or Albany, NY.
Corporate headquarters is located in SoHo in lower Manhattan, one of the trendiest neighborhoods in New York City.
Typically the work hours are nine to five but may vary slightly depending on department.
Our main program is geared toward juniors and seniors, and a few opportunities will be provided to graduate students.
