From book fairs in Mumbai to The Magic School Bus in Malaysia, Scholastic's thriving international businesses have enjoyed steady growth since the Company first crossed the border to launch Scholastic Canada in 1957. Today, Scholastic is the undisputed world leader in bringing books and educational materials of the highest quality to children, and it does so in over 150 countries around the world.
Scholastic makes our global presence felt through many entities and channels, including wholly owned companies with original trade publishing, such as Scholastic Australia and the more recently established subsidiary of Asia, where leading edge educational products are being developed not only for the Asian region, but also the rest of the world. Scholastic brings books and software to millions of the world’s children via school-based book clubs and book fairs and through its growing network of English Language Learning Centers in China. In New York, an international sales force exports product developed for a global market, including English Language Teaching (ELT) materials, while the licensing of foreign-language rights to Scholastic books brings beloved characters - from Clifford to Geronimo Stilton and Captain Underpants - to life in more than 40 languages.
In addition to our growing base in Southeast Asia, the Company is also making inroads into the Arabic-speaking world, with product and training programs developed specifically for the markets of the Arabic region.
