Scholastic Trade Books is an award-winning publisher of original children's books. Scholastic publishes more than 600 new hardcover, paperback, and novelty books each year. The list includes the phenomenally successful publishing properties Harry Potter® and Captain Underpants®, the beloved series Clifford The Big Red Dog®, Goosebumps™,I Spy™, best-selling and award-winning authors and illustrators, including Blue Balliett, Jim Benton, Meg Cabot, Christopher Paul Curtis, Cornelia Funke, Ann M. Martin, Dav Pilkey, J.K. Rowling, Brian Selznick, Pam Muñoz Ryan, David Shannon, Mark Teague, Matthew Reinhart, and Walter Wick, among others, as well as licensed properties such as Star Wars®, Scooby Doo™ Rainbow Magic®, It’s Happy Bunny™ Taggies®, and Littlest Pet Shop™. In 1998, Scholastic published Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the first book of the phenomenally popular series that has captured the hearts and minds of children and adults alike. Nearly ten years later, on July 21, 2007, Scholastic published the much-anticipated seventh and final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, making publishing history with a record-breaking 8.3 million copies sold in the U.S. in the first 24 hours. More than 135 million copies of the Harry Potter books are in print in the United States; more than 350 million copies have sold worldwide. All seven Harry Potter books remain on national best seller lists.

Scholastic Book Fairs®, in partnership with schools around the country, hosts more than 120,000 book-sale events each year, reaching over 2 million teachers and more than 35 million children and their families in pre-school through 9th grade. Book Fairs provide students, teachers, and parents’ access to thousands of affordable books and educational products and is responsible for putting more than 100 million books in the hands of children, helping to foster enthusiasm for reading, and generating more than $90 million annually in fundraising for school projects and classroom materials. Scholastic Book Fairs feature newly released works, award-winning titles, classics, bestsellers, and interactive software from more than 150 publishers. Nearing its 25th anniversary, Scholastic Book Fairs presents its Kids Are Authors® national book-writing contest for teams of student writers in grades K-8, where winning books are published and distributed nationwide through Book Fairs. 

Through 13 school-based, grade-specific clubs, Scholastic Book Clubs™ reach more than one million teachers and millions of children and parents with high-quality, affordable children's books and reading materials from publishers around the globe. Today, over 80% of all elementary school teachers in the United States participate in Scholastic Book Clubs. Through Scholastic Book Clubs' annual ClassroomsCare initiative, Scholastic donates 100 books to children in need for every 100 books read by participating classes throughout the country helping children understand the joy of reading and giving. Five million new books have been donated to date.
