Dear Diary,

I've neglected you for a while my dearest diary. But now I have time to write. Christmas has come and gone, and despite our best efforts to be merry, we are all quite worried about the fate of our colony as we learned not too long ago that the King has closed our port – the lifeblood of this place. We are so divided here in Boston that I do not know if we can be united enough to do anything about it. When will all this end? No it seems there is no end in sight.

William and Father have not been home very much – and I have not seen Jesse since I last wrote in my diary. Something tells me that bigger things will be happening soon. I pray that we can hold together as a family.
