Clifford Returns In An All-New Interactive Adventure That Teaches Early Reading Skills Through Fun-Filled Activities |
NEW YORK – November 14, 2006 – Scholastic Media (SM), a leading producer of quality, family-oriented media including feature films, home video, TV and interactive products, and a division of Scholastic Inc., today announced Clifford® Reading for the Leapster® Learning Game System from LeapFrog. In the game, Clifford’s BIG sneeze has scattered the pages of Emily Elizabeth’s joke book all over Birdwell Island and players get to help Clifford and his friends play reading games to collect the 50 hilarious jokes. Clifford Reading will be released in January 2007.

In Clifford Reading, kids aged 4-6 are given 5 fun-filled games that teach early reading skills, such as alphabetic knowledge, letter recognition, spelling, word families and rhyming, among others. Hints for beginner players make the game accessible for all skill levels, while fun rewards help extend the gameplay experience. An auto leveling function also adjusts the game’s difficulty according to the player’s ability. Rounding out the complete package is a cast of popular characters from the TV show that join Clifford in teaching kids phonics, writing and vocabulary skills through entertaining and educational interactive activities.
Clifford Reading will be available in January 2007 at retail stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $24.99.

Clifford Musical Memory Games takes children ages four to six to Cliffordís neighborhood to help him bring music back to Birdwell Island after a storm breaks the radio tower. While exploring the island with Clifford, Cleo, and T-Bone, children play a series of 19 entertaining activities and thinking challenges that develop memory, problem solving, and early math skills. For example, children practice matching skills in a beach activity as they help Emily Elizabeth sort seashells that make similar sounds. I Spy Treasure Hunt recently shipped, while Clifford Learning Activities is hitting store shelves this month.
Clifford the Big Red Dog, the large and lovable companion of children for nearly 40 years, brings fun and learning to kids on the computer. Clifford Learning Activities is the third in a series of best-selling CD-ROMs based on the Clifford the Big Red Dog® book series which boasts more than 100 titles and 85 million books in print. Clifford is also the star of his own award-winning television series on PBS KIDS.
Building on the success of the best-selling I Spy software series, Scholastic launched
I Spy Treasure Hunt. Scholastic's original I Spy CD-ROM was ranked number six among top-selling educational retail software titles of 1998 (NPD Intelect) and the winner of more than 10 prestigious awards. Players follow Clifford and his friends to seven different locations where 10 activities let children practice early developmental skills like math, reading, sorting, matching, creativity, and word building. Throughout the game, Clifford talks to his dog-friends when humans are not around and, in true Clifford fashion, he continually gets into trouble because he is so big creating humorous situations that entertain and engage kids.
I Spy Treasure Hunt transports children ages six through ten to the quaint seaside town of Smuggler's Cove where they set out on three separate adventures in search of hidden pirate treasures. While children explore the town and play 60 challenging I Spy riddles, pieces of three mysterious treasure maps are cleverly revealed. Players must use their mapping and problem-solving skills to assemble the pieces and follow the clues on an exciting hunt to discover the unique treasures left behind by the town's legendary pirates.

Clifford Thinking Adventures and Clifford Reading are the first CD-ROMs based on the Clifford the Big Red Dog® book series, which boasts more than 86 titles and over 76 million books in print. In addition to his software debut, Clifford is starring in his own television show for the first time on PBS KIDS.
